Nakamura Slant1
This 2 axis lathe is the main workhorse of the turning department. With a dedicated PC at the machine, its quick to change from one part to the next. Workholding options range from an 8" 3 jaw manual chuck, 10" power chuck, and 16C collet nose. Max turning diameter is 12" and tailstock nose limits part length to around 14".
Nakamura TMC-15
This little lathe is the king of small parts in the shop. With 1500ipm rapids and a 6000rpm 5C spindle, its the perfect machine for accurate parts done quickly. Features include an integrated bar pulling mechanism and a solid bar capacity of 1", as well as a 10 station turret.
Cincinnati Cinturn 1212
This is the most POWERFUL lathe in the shop (note that I didnt say largest). With a 50HP (yes, FIFTY) 2 speed gearbox, 12 station turret, and a micro-dial adjustable and powered tailstock, this machine can make BIG parts out of the most challenging materials. Equipped with a 12" power chuck, with a 3" internal bore with integrated collet pads, this machine can also tailstock up to 40" long work.
Mazak Multiplex 620/625
We actually have a pair of these. The 620 has a smaller bore diameter (2.4" spindle bore) vs the 625 with a 3" spindle bore. These machines are both equipped with C and Virtual Y axis interpolation, live tooling in X and Z directions, and with twin spindles can run parts complete in one operation. The 625 is also bar fed with an LNS Servobar feeder.
Mori Seiki ZL-45
One of the biggest lathes in the entire PNW that's privately owned. This massive machine was made for huge workpieces in the foundry, mining, and logging industry. With a 16" chuck, 4.5" spindle bore, 40HP 4-speed gearbox, TWO 12 station turrets, and a power tailstock, this machine was made for big parts. This machine will turn up to 20" diameter parts with a work length of 60" to the tailstock.
Atlas 10" Manual Lathe
As honorable mention, any shop should have a manual lathe. This handy little Atlas has been retrofitted with a 3HP motor with VFD, a new 8" chuck, and a modern DRO. Along with our Bridgeport, this machine gets used almost daily for small work around the shop.
